Styrofoam hives were developed in the beginning of the 70`s and have ever since revolutionized beekeeping in north Europe. The hives have a high density, which means that they are so hard that bees are unable to gnaw on them.

The Swi-Bo hives have many advantages: Firstly, they give a bigger honey yield (contact us for refences). Moreover, they are lighter, well-insulated against the cold and more importantly warmer temperatures. They do not rot, there are no humidity problems and they are easier to repair, if they happen to get some damage. They are environmentally friendly (do not give off dioxins, in case they need to be destroyed) and have a long lifespan from up to 30 years.

SWI-BO hive body mouldet in one piece, to give better durability and handling.
Includes two frame rests to increase lifetime.
To protect the polystyrene from UV-rays we recommend to paint this hive with e.g. our SWI-BO hive paint item 103801.
